Description

Amanda Steinhebel is Postdoc at NASA in the AMEGO-X experiment. For this application IPE develops the pixel sensor AstroPix to be used in a gamma-ray telescope. Amanda will report on this experiment.

Efficient particle detection and reconstruction is paramount for physics advancements in high-energy astrophysics as well as collider-based particle physics; the instrument philosophies of these related fields are not as different as one may think. This talk will explore the development and utilization of silicon-based detectors in space-based and collider-based environments and consider different required stages of apparatus design.
