Description

Excursion to ASTRON (Netherlands) 6-7.09.18

This year, the KSETA excursion will visit the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy ASTRON. We will have a chance to talk to the experts at the experimental site and broaden our knowledge about radio astronomy :)

  Check-out and transfer to ASTRON site ------------------------------------------------------------- We will take bus 35 at 10:10 from the Brinkkampen street. We will then arrive at Lhee, Oosteresweg and have to walk 15 minutes from there to ASTRON. We should then arrive at 10:40 to ASTRON. 1h 30m

  control room with Sander ter Veen 20m

  lunch at ASTRON (arranged) 40m

  transfer to LOFAR by ASTRON bus 1h
- 2:00 PM → 3:00 PM
  
  tour at LOFAR by Olaf Scholten and Sander ter Veen 1h
- 3:00 PM → 4:00 PM
  
  transfer to WSRT site by "our" bus 1h
- 4:00 PM → 6:00 PM
  
  walk around WSRT (MilkyWay path) + camp site if possible 2h
- 6:00 PM → 7:00 PM
  
  Dinner 1h
- 7:00 PM → 11:59 PM
  
  departure from WSRT and transfer to Karlsruhe 4h 59m
  
  We should arrive around 1 a.m.
