Production schedule discussion with UCSB (Feb.19)

Immediate request (Feb - April)

  • "Carry over" of requests from end-of-year/Feburary request
    • IHEP: 20 CuW LD Full v6 | Ship End of Feburary
    • CMU: 15 CuW LD Full v6 | Ship End of Feburary
    • TIFR: 15 CuW LD Full v6 | Ship End of Feburary
    • TTU: 18 Ti LD Full v6 | Ship End of March
    • UCSB: 28 Ti HD Full v6 | Ship End of March
    • Notes from KIT Production side.
      • CuW can be prepared for shipment immedately after HGCAL week.
      • Total Ti shipment is limited by Ti Kapton availability.
  • Partial request - For comminission of MAC partial production and cassette assembly
    • NTU: 12 of each CuW Partial types:
      • HD Bottom | HD Left | HD Right|  LD Top | LD Bottom | LD Left | LD Right | LD Five  /// 8 types x 12 = 96 Total
      • Target to ship by End of March. NTU has tooling ready
      • Existing transfer tape is acceptable, KIT should have materials for all variants
    • UCSB: 12 of each Ti Partial types:
      • HD Top | LD Left | LD Right | LD Top | LD Bottom | LD Five //// 6 types x 12 = 72 Total
      • Target to ship by End of April
      • KIT is currently limited by:
        • Metal: Request the cassette group to upload the final designs files as soon as possible
        • Kapton: we currently only have Kapton for LD Top and LD bottom, other items has been order by Feb.14th (so at KIT by end of Month)
        • Tape availability: We have not yet ordered anything yet! We are still waiting for the designs to be signed off.
      • UCSB might want to produce HD Tops sooner, as they have tooling in place, and this is the one hexaboard variant that is not covered by NTU. If they want this item early, they will need to provide transfer tapes to us (~March)

Summer target for MACs:

  • The full count is given in this sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r6442YxS2jVhVJoUurG5L-4JT3dQVKYcUsR5NgBLkLA/edit?gid=802982811#gid=802982811
  • Joe mentioned that this is more likely to the final production by the end of the year.
He also think it is most important to allow for MAC ramp up, so ensuring a consistent supply of LD Full (CuW and Ti)
  • KIT will need to order additional material for these items before the bulk order that goese through CERN.

General reference for shipping to MACs

  • All CuW Partials will go to NTU
  • All Ti Partials will go to UCSB
  • All TI HD Fulls will go to UCSB
  • CuW HD Fulls with go to UCSB/NTU

Dangling questions for production meeting (Feb.20th)

  • Regarding the CuW LD Full procured through IHEP's contract:
    • When are they expecting baseplates to arrive?
    • What is the total number that we expect?
    • For the excess that are not used by IHEP, which MAC facilities will they be sent to and how much?
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 9:00 AM 9:30 AM
      General 30m
Speakers: Dowling Wong (ETP), Jay Lawhorn, Yi-Mu Chen

Notes from my talk / previous talks:

      • They want to validate the Si and glue stress models. The proposal is that we send 2 CuW LD Top partials to NTU without applying the kapton-sensor transfer tape, as soon as we can, and they will build modules with epoxy but without glue, to simulate the worst-case scenario.
      • There was a lot of discussion about this point, and potentially doing another iteration after testing (Stefano seemed in favor of this) but others emphasized that we need to finalize the designs so we can order things
      • Also of note, the CuW HD Bottom modules are going to see the most integrated dose (180 Mrad) so have the most problems with transfer tapes (CuW LD Top request to NTU was based on what they have parts for)
      • Ignacio wants to know who our CuW vendor is, with the idea CIEMAT might buy some themselves (I did stress to him that the month-by-month breakdown isn't finalized)
      • Jeremy wants feedback about how fast we can build things and and which things we're going to build.
      • He also pointed out that we have already delivered some of the production baseplates, so we aren't actually starting from zero.
      • Karl pointed out, and Huaqiao agreed, that the IHEP baseplates are not going to be available before May
      • Everyone seems on board with the ramp-up plan presented by Alethea, so that gives us a good idea of what to order (~1600 pieces)
      • Rong-shyang pointed out that sending things through CERN really holds things up (current box for them is waiting for Hexaboards to be shipped at the same time) but Ludivine said if there is really an urgent shipment, we need to let them know so that she doesn't hold them for other parts

      • Also Susanne hopes to have the new transfer tape designs ready by the end of next wekek
