The workshop Data Stewardship goes Germany 2025 (DSgG 2025) will take place at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 30 September to 1 October 2025. Join us for an exchange of ideas and discussions on recent developments relating to data stewardship!

We are delighted to host the fourth annual DSgG workshop, focusing on the evolving field of Research Data Management in science and technology. Following successful events in Braunschweig, Dresden, and Aachen, this year's gathering will take place at the KIT Library.

DSgG 2025 aims to bring together data stewards, data managers, data curators, and other experts interested in Research Data Management and/or Research Software Engineering, placing special emphasis on practical, actionable solutions. It is an excellent opportunity for participants to gain new insights, expand their networks, and contribute to shaping the future of the data stewards community in Germany.

This year's workshop will focus on the following theme: Data Stewardship in Day-to-Day Research Activities – Use Cases and Best Practices. The emphasis will be on practical issues and processes in supporting research projects. This includes aspects such as the following:

  • Achieving data interoperability (e.g., through machine-readable formats, metadata),

  • The use of Electronic Laboratory Notebooks, repositories, and other tools in the areas of Research Data Management and Research Software Engineering,

  • Collaboration with the NFDI to create synergies and provide tools,

  • Ensuring the reproducibility of research data and results.

We welcome contributions on these as well as other topics related to data stewardship. Abstracts for talks and posters may be submitted until 12 May 2025. Please find further details here.

In addition to plenary talks and a poster session, we will also host small-group interactive discussion sessions. The conference language is English.

There will be no workshop fee. A self-pay dinner gathering is planned for the evening of the first day.

The workshop series DSgG is organized by the RDM Interest Group of the TU9 Alliance. This year, FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure is also participating in organizing the workshop.
