Background to Base4NFDI
Base4NFDI is a DFG-funded initiative, launched in 2023, and establishes a framework to provide cross-disciplinary services to drive FAIR practices to underpin the transition to open science in Germany and beyond. Through involving relevant stakeholders and leveraging the existing service infrastructure in Germany it ensures services’ suitability and adoption not only by developing Basic Services that are usable for the entire NFDI (and, perspectively, beyond), but also via a lively network of Service Stewards. With a long-term perspective, Base4NFDI contributes to the evolution and innovation of the NFDI service landscape which by definition is part of the European service landscape.
Spotlight I: DMP4NFDI
DMP4NFDI is a centralised Basic Service for managing data management plans (DMPs) and software management plans (SMPs) across the NFDI. It will host the open-source DMP tool RDMO, coordinate template creation, standardise content, and offer guidance and support to consortia staff responsible for DMPs.
Spotlight II: RDMTraining4NFDI
RDMTraining4NFDI is concerned with offering training in the knowledge and skills required for research data management (RDM) to all NFDI consortia. The training encompasses data, software, and machine-learning models, and is intended for the consortia’s staff, such as data stewards and trainers, as well as researchers within the respective communities.
Additionally to the presentation of the aspects briefly introduced above, there will be time for questions. Focus will be on the use cases.
