Description

Many of us are present every day in the Physics Building on Campus South, while many others spend their working day on Campus North, West or in external research facilities. Often, regular contact does not extend beyond the own institute, which also impairs the flow of information regarding official procedures and deadlines as well as networking and exchange with other doctoral students. To counteract this and to welcome you all to the faculty, the PhD student council is organizing an information event for all new doctoral students in physics, geophysics, and meteorology on Wednesday, May 14th.

After a short official part starting at 6 pm in seminar room 6/1, building 30.23 Campus South, we will have drinks together at the Fermisee [1], located in the immediate vicinity. Drinks will be provided by us.

As part of the event, Prof. Hinz, one of the Ombudspersons for Doctoral Researchers, will also introduce you this support structure. The Ombudspersons act as contact persons in cases of conflicts or disputes between doctoral researchers and supervisors during the doctoral research phase. As independent persons of trust, they offer advice, provide recommendations, and help mediate between parties—always bound by confidentiality. And in the worst case they can escalate things to higher instances.

Of course also not so new PhD students are warmly welcomed to join the event.

Please register below so that the number of drinks provided can be planned.
