"Measurements of the TeV muon component of air showers with IceCube"
Abstract: The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is equipped to perform unique air shower measurements by combining a surface array, IceTop, with a deep in-ice detector. I will discuss an analysis determining the average multiplicity of TeV muons in air showers in the 3 - 100 PeV energy range observed with both detector components. The results show good agreement with predictions based on different hadronic interaction models, but reveal a tension for some models when compared to earlier measurements of the GeV muon component at the surface. In addition, I will discuss how future measurements of TeV muons in air showers may provide new constraints on hadronic interactions.
