Join us for the Tour de Vogel, the annual social event of the KIT Library IT Department. Inspired by the well-known Tour de Vogel, this tour connects the three Vogelbräu brewpubs in Karlsruhe, Durlach, and Ettlingen, providing an opportunity to experience local cuisine, regional beer, and informal networking with fellow conference participants.
The tour starts at Vogelbräu Karlsruhe, where participants have the option to begin the day with a traditional Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast before continuing to the other two locations.
For conference participants, we will complete the tour using public transportation.
Since most attendees are unlikely to have travelled with a bicycle, this allows everyone to comfortably join the tour and enjoy the experience together.
The three Vogelbräu locations are well connected by tram and bus, making the tour easy and relaxed.
The idea is simple: visit all three Vogelbräu locations and enjoy a beer at each stop. Participants who complete the tour by having a beer at the first and second location will receive a complimentary beer as a reward at the final stop.
While the Tour de Vogel is rooted in Karlsruhe's brewing tradition, we also want to highlight the region's cultural heritage.
Therefore, we will make short stops at selected sights along the way, including landmarks such as the Turmberg in Durlach and Ettlingen Palace, giving participants a chance to discover some of the area's history and local attractions.
Participants who have brought a bicycle are also welcome to follow the original cycling route. More information about the official Tour de Vogel is available here:

The tour starts and ends at designated meeting points with reserved seating inside for all participants (for "Tubach"). When the weather is nice, we sit in the beer garden, reservations aren't accepted there.
