Welcome to the official website of the Centennial Celebration of the Refrigeration Institute ("Kältetechnisches Institut") founded by Rudolf Plank at TH Karlsruhe in 1926.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us in Karlsruhe, Germany on Wednesday, June 17th - Thursday, June 18th 2026 for the Centennial Colloquium, Poster Sessions, Excursions and lots of social gatherings.

 

Travel information

The Centennial Celebration 2026 will be held in the beautiful city of Karlsruhe, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Karlsruhe is at the core of Europe with a short distance from the main airports and train stations.

  • Frankfurt International Airport: 1 hour with ICE train (connection directly in airport)
  • Stuttgart International Airport: 1 1/4 hours with ICE train
  • Strassbourg Train Station 1 hours with ICE train

 

The Centennial Colloqium will be held in the "Johann-Gottfried-Tulla Lecture Hall" at Campus South, Bldg. 11.40 First Floor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

For parking, we kindly recommend that you use the parking space "Birkenparkplatz". (Adenauerring 19, 76131 Karlsruhe). It is free of charge and a 20 minute walk to the KIT Campus South. If you prefer parking closer to the venue, you may use the "Parkgarage Schlossplatz" or "Parkgarage Waldhornstraße", both located within minutes walking distance of the lecture hall and parking fees apply.

From Karlsruhe Main Station (Hauptbahnhof), take tram line S4 (direction Bretten / Gölshausen or Eppingen) or S7/S8 (direction Tullastraße / Blankenloch) to the stop "Kronenplatz" (KIT Campus Süd). The ride takes about 10 minutes. From there is is a short 2-minute walk to the building 11.40.
