Description

Abstract
This contribution presents the deployment and ongoing enhancement of Kadi4Mat, an open-source virtual research environment, within the framework of the Euro-Lab project at the Institute for Beam Physics and Technology (IBPT), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The project aims to establish a self-hosted, scalable, and FAIR-compliant infrastructure tailored to the data management needs of physics research.
Different platforms (Kadi4Mat, B2SHARE, RADAR) have been benchmarked in terms of file size and metadata handling. Performance tests on different environments (virtual and physical) using various storage backends (including S3 and LSDF) and transfer protocols were conducted to determine the most efficient configuration for managing large data sets.
This use case illustrates how Kadi4Mat enables reproducible, interoperable research workflows and provides a modular model for integrating research data infrastructure into institutional environments like IBPT, in line with modern digital science requirements.
