If you stay longer, the region of Baden-Württemberg hosts also some of the most beautiful towns in Germany; Heidelberg and Freiburg, that are reachable from Karlsruhe by a relatively fast train trip. If you like technology the Technik Museum Speyer has a very nice display of everything from cars, trains, U-boats to a Russian shuttle. One could also reach the beautiful Strasbourg (France).
