Description

We present the current status of a new measurement of the weak mixing angle using the forward–backward asymmetry in Drell–Yan processes at the Z pole.
As a first step, we aim to reproduce the Run 2 measurement [1] and subsequently adapt and improve the analysis to Run 3 conditions.
The current work focuses on setting up the analysis workflow for Run 3 Monte Carlo samples and on establishing the identification and reconstruction of very forward electrons in the CMS HF calorimeter.
These electrons extend the acceptance to large dilepton rapidities, where the direction of the initial-state quark can be inferred more reliably.
