  The overall picture of pseudo-random number generation (PRNG) in multi-thread environments is revisited. The common designs patterns and their corresponding advantages and caveats are discussed. Following, the criteria for efficient PRNG in multi-thread platforms are identified. The talk is concluded with a discussion about the (non-) conform generators, commonly used in HEP.
