Description
What happens when a video game studies lab, a health and safety organization, a genealogical society, a neonatal unit, and a school of information studies all need a library system? They choose Koha... and they make it work!
In this presentation, we explore five unusual implementations of Koha from our client base, each pushing the system beyond its traditional role as a public, academic, or specialized lending library. From a plugin that calculates item due dates based on how premature a baby is, to per-student Koha instances spun up each semester for library science students, to volunteer-staffed genealogical societies creating deep analytical records for their researchers, these cases reveal just how adaptable Koha can be.
Some of these required custom development; others simply required thinking creatively about what Koha already does. Together, they make the case that with a little creativity, and a little code, Koha can go anywhere.
