Join us for a memorable Cultural Day in Heidelberg, one of Germany's most charming and historic cities. Together, we will discover breathtaking views, centuries of history, and the vibrant atmosphere of the picturesque Old Town.
Our journey begins at Heidelberg Central Station.
1a) ambitious route (approximately 8 km (5 miles) and 200 metres (650 ft) of elevation gain.)
From there, those who enjoy a more active walk can head to the famous Philosophers' Walk (Philosophenweg), a scenic trail offering spectacular panoramic views of the Old Town, the Neckar River, and Heidelberg Castle.

1b) relaxing route
For participants who prefer a more relaxed experience or are less comfortable with longer walks, there will be the option to enjoy a short boat cruise on the Neckar River instead. This provides a wonderful opportunity to admire Heidelberg's beautiful riverside scenery from the water while the more adventurous group explores the Philosophers' Walk.

The two groups will meet again at the iconic Old Bridge (Alte Brücke), where we will continue the tour together. Here, we will also visit the legendary Bridge Monkey (Brückenaffe), a beloved symbol of Heidelberg that has welcomed visitors for centuries.
Next, we will stroll through the heart of the historic Old Town, passing the Town Hall (Rathaus) before making our way up to the magnificent Heidelberg Castle. One of Germany's most famous landmarks, the castle combines impressive Renaissance architecture with fascinating history and stunning views over the city.
After exploring the castle grounds, we will continue to the Heidelberg University Library, one of Germany's oldest academic libraries, and visit the nearby Witches' Tower (Hexenturm), a reminder of Heidelberg's medieval past.
Our final cultural stop is the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies, which was Katrin's first Koha Library and one of the first academic Koha libraries in Germany.
At the end of the tour, we will return to Heidelberg Central Station.
This Cultural Day offers the perfect opportunity to experience Heidelberg's unique blend of history, culture, architecture, and beautiful landscapes while enjoying a relaxing walk through one of Germany's most beautiful cities.
